Dr Crowther’s research interests include exploring ways of improving the way that we use our current anticoagulant drugs. These include exploring established and novel interventions to mitigate bleeding, and studies of currently available anticoagulant drugs in high-risk patient populations. Dr Crowther’s work also focused on developing systematic reviews of key questions in Hematology and Thrombosis, and basing Guidelines on those reviews. Dr Crowther has more than 400 peer reviewed publications, was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada in 2017, and received the 2017 International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis BACH Investigator Recognition Award. He was one of 14 scientists from the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University cited by Clarivate Analytics on its Highly Cited Researchers list (formerly known as Thomson Reuter’s annual publication of The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds). Dr Crowther is currently the Chair, Department of Medicine at McMaster University and holds the Leo Pharma Chair in Thromboembolism Research at McMaster University.
